CARF Gains Volunteer Friendly Award

Date published: 9th December 2016

In recognition of the work CARF carries out with volunteers and staff, we are proud to say we have recently been awarded the Volunteer Friendly Award.  This award is a quality standard designed to support, recognise and reward groups good at involving volunteers.  To achieve this we developed, with the support of Fife Voluntary Action, a portfolio of evidence demonstrating the quality of our work with volunteers.

Working to achieve this standard was a real team effort, with staff and volunteers from across the organisation coming together to review policies, practices and all aspects of volunteering.  They shared ideas and made suggestions on areas for improvement, which all fed into the accreditation process.

The award is made for three years, so we know we must keep working to maintain this standard, whilst still finding ways to keep improving the experience for our volunteers.  Without their contribution the people of Fife would not be able to receive the level of support and assistance that they do.  We know what we ask our volunteers to do can be challenging at times and we are enormously grateful to the significant contribution made by our volunteers.  We also recognise the vital support provided by staff to ensure successful volunteering experiences.  However, we always need more volunteers, so we hope that having the Volunteer Friendly Award demonstrates the commitment we have to volunteers; both those already at CARF and those we hope will join us in the future.
