Celebrating Volunteers

Date published: 2nd June 2016

Wednesday 1st June saw the launch of Volunteer’s Week across the country.  We are grateful all year round to the tremendous contribution our volunteers make and can’t thank them enough but Volunteer’s Week is the time in the year when everyone makes a fuss.  It kicked off in style in Fife with Fife Voluntary Action’s Annual Awards Ceremony.  It’s always a great night and this year was no exception.  There were lots of fantastic nominees in each of the categories and it was great to hear the phenomenal contribution volunteers make right across Fife.  Well done to all the winners!

Two of our volunteers were able to join the celebrations and receive recognition for their 5 years’ service to CARF.  Hugh Reid and Steven Wojciechowski’s roles may differ but they both use their experience for the benefit of clients on a day-to-day basis as well as providing support to newer volunteers to achieve their potential.  Experience like theirs is amazing but that doesn’t mean we aren’t always on the lookout for new volunteers.  You don’t have to commit to the next five years but maybe you’ve got some time to spare now that you could give to CARF?  There are lots of roles available right across Fife so there’s bound to be something that suits.  Details are on our volunteer pages or come into an office and have a chat with one of us.  You might even find yourself at an awards ceremony!
