Help shape the future Social Security System in Scotland

Date published: 9th March 2017

The Scottish Government are keen to hear from the public regarding the new Scottish Social Security system and have set up Experience Panels to gather the views.

At least 2,000 people with direct personal experience of the current social security system are being recruited to help shape Scotland’s new system.  The proposed Experience Panels will be made up of people from across the country who use the current system who are prepared to give their views on the design of Scotland’s new system and how to build and refine a better model.

Registration for those wishing to be part of the Experience Panels is now live and can be done online  at www.gov.scot/socialsecurity or by Freephone 0800 029 4974 (including language line translation).

Scottish Ministers have made it clear they want to reach as many people with recent experiences of benefits as possible and it is crucial to get a wide representation of all of the devolved benefits.

David Redpath, Business Development Manager at CARF, commented; “This is a terrific opportunity for those with experience of the current system and its processes to help shape the future of the new Scottish Social Security system.  We welcome the Scottish Governments consultation on this topic and would encourage as many Fifers as possible to become part of the Experience Panels”.

More information on Experience Panels is available at www.gov.scot/socialsecurity.
