The End of the Round Pound
Date published: 13th August 2017The new 12 sided £1 coin was launched in May and from 15th October this year the round £1 coins will cease to be legal tender.
Banks have confirmed that they will accept the round £1 coins after this date for their own customers only.
We suggest if you have a piggy bank or a jam jar filled with coins that you check this now and make sure you use the round £1 coins before October 2017.
If you add to your piggy bank / jam jar ensure that any £1 coins are the new 12 sided coins.
